We started the day by waking and walking to our breakfast in a castle. Next we packed up and then drove to pikes peak, a 14,000 ft mountain, and thats basically the only thing we did that day because the rest was just driving.
Pagosa Springs To Colorado Springs
This Awesome but crappy day started off with a loud ("Bang") I left it be for the night, to discover that my headset 3.5mm jack got stuck in my computer and couldn't be fixed for the time being and couldn't be fixed. Anyways I got up and went to the sulfur hot tubs and soakedContinue reading "Pagosa Springs To Colorado Springs"
Day 10 – Highways and Hot Springs
Leaving Telluride we decided to go on one more hike - the 2.4 mile, 1100 feet elevation gain trail to Bridal Veil Falls. Turns out, people are really creative when it comes to naming Waterfalls... (we saw two Bridal Veil falls on this trip, one is in our home region and another in Yosemite -Continue reading "Day 10 – Highways and Hot Springs"
Day 9—Telluride
Had a great day relaxing at the hotel in the morning and exploring Telluride in the afternoon. It's an amazing little town framed by a high-walled box canyon that rivaled the best scenery we've seen in the national parks. The 9,000 foot elevation of Mountain Village (over the Telluride mountain by free gondola), where we'reContinue reading "Day 9—Telluride"
Day 8: Canyons and Telluride
We started the day by visiting Colorado national monument, and vast series of canyons and valleys, out by grand junction. Next we drove to the black canyon of the Gunnison for a very different canyon experience. The black canyon was mostly plants and grey rocks, while the Colorado was mostly tan and light red rocksContinue reading "Day 8: Canyons and Telluride"
Steamboat – Dinosaur
DINOSAURS!!!! We started this day by packing up to go to Grand Junction but on the way we made a major stop at Dinosaur National Monument. We were wowed by the sheer amount of dinosaur bones they had found 400 Full Dinos and 100 our still in the Quarry. The Whole experience was just likeContinue reading "Steamboat – Dinosaur"
Day 6 – Exploring Steamboat
For the Bares family being back in Civilization means finding a minigolf extravaganza ASAP. Lucky for us, Maverick minigolf was included in a mountain pass called Land Up - which also allowed us to take the Gondola up to Thunderhead for spectacular views and go on two rides of the outlaw mountain coaster, which isContinue reading "Day 6 – Exploring Steamboat"
Day 5—Estes Park to Steamboat Springs
We spent the day recovering from a pretty harrowing night in the Stanley Hotel’s “Heritage Room.” For those that don’t know, the Stanley Hotel inspired Steven King‘s “The Shining.” He thought of the whole thing after waking from a nightmare about his son in room 217. Apparently more than 50% of the guests stay thereContinue reading "Day 5—Estes Park to Steamboat Springs"
Day 4: The Stanley Hotel
We started off today by heading back to Rocky Mountain National park. We took three small hikes; the bear lake nature trail (mostly flat and easy), the Sprague lake hike (flat and easy), and Alberta falls (mostly downhill, moderately easy. After that we went to a small spot outside of the park, where they hadContinue reading "Day 4: The Stanley Hotel"
Hiking and Camping
Today was just about the worst day, starting off with the terrible cold "Sleep" that we were not prepared to have. Since we weren't able to sleep we all huddled up on one bed and snuggled for warmth. Then after the cold terrible sleep, we had to hike up what we thought as theContinue reading "Hiking and Camping"
