Day 9 – St Lawrence River @ La Malbaie

With two somewhat invalids in a party of four, we skipped out of Montreal early and drove up the St. Lawrence River. We headed to La Malbaie, which is a fantastic place, though there isn’t much there – unless you like looking at a huge expanse of water that says ocean much more than river, and you enjoy being surrounded by more trees than people (not to mention all the other plant, animal, and insect life). To get an early start on Bill’s birthday we found a cool place to play golf (my gift to him was that I joined and also played 18 holes, along with the boys). It was a perfect day of 70s (Fahrenheit) weather that provided lots of incredibly fresh air (mixing the woodsy aromas with the salty breeze), some physical activity and best of all – great views!

I know that especially my German family is now asking all sorts of questions about my future participation in Golf outings, so I’ll be up front: this was a special occasion/Bill’s birthday wish and that’s that. No more golfing for me for at least another year (Bill can request this as a birthday gift again). However, I did enjoy zipping around the course on a golf cart. I’d do that again anytime 🙂
