Day 6—Quebec

Leo was sick this morning, so it was just me and Arthur that hit The Links at Lang Farm at 7:20 this morning. Short, affordable, incredibly well maintained golf course. So fun that I decided to play the back 9 by myself in the rain! I’m sick but it was totally worth it.

Burlington was beautiful and a lot like Asheville. We were sad to leave it so soon, but we had to drive to Quebec today. What was supposed to be a short drive turned into a longer one thanks to a huge security checkpoint.

What struck us immediately was how much flatter and sparser things were north of the border… everything was just a little more confusing, and the whole scene reminded us of a French version of Northern Minnesota.

Until we arrived at our hotel here in the Orford region of the Eastern Townships, where the scenery changed dramatically. Awesome vacation spot. The boys were cashed out, so we allowed them to play games in the hotel room. Eva and I went for a long walk in one of the prettiest neighborhoods we’ve seen…. mountains, calm lake, cool weather… serenity. Concluded the day with a pizza at “Steforno”—mix of Italian food, French attention to great ingredients, and North American speedy service.  Full, exhausted, asleep by 9.

  1. Beautiful…..Leo must be really sick not to want to golf. Is it the same stuff Art had? Any wonder with the current political climate that there is a long line to get into Canada….hb

  2. Poor Leo! Hope he has a quick recovery so he can enjoy Canada. And, I hope you don’t get sick from golfing in the rain! Btw, Vermont looks amazing!
