For the Bares family being back in Civilization means finding a minigolf extravaganza ASAP.
Lucky for us, Maverick minigolf was included in a mountain pass called Land Up – which also allowed us to take the Gondola up to Thunderhead for spectacular views and go on two rides of the outlaw mountain coaster, which is quite possibly the longest, most fun alpine coaster we’ve ever experienced.
The Alpine coaster starts off nice and easy, pulling you uphill in your sled. It’s a smooth ride and has beautiful views. And then you get to control your own destiny on the way down. No video or photo allowed – obviously, because you need both hands to accelerate or break your vehicle. So we just have images of the structure, not the ride. The closest equivalent for me would be the Universal Studios “Flight of the Hippogriff”—if that ride was five times as long and you were the only person on it. Or as the boys put it: 10/10 would definitely ride again.
