Day 9—Telluride

Had a great day relaxing at the hotel in the morning and exploring Telluride in the afternoon. It’s an amazing little town framed by a high-walled box canyon that rivaled the best scenery we’ve seen in the national parks. The 9,000 foot elevation of Mountain Village (over the Telluride mountain by free gondola), where we’re staying, is high enough that we slept a little weird and felt a step slow all day. Good opportunity to cool it and explore Telluride’s quaint mountain charms. The houses are old and very close together and odd-shaped. We chilled, shopped for a few souvenirs, had some of the best pub food we’ve ever had, and headed back to watch “Gravity,” an unbelievable space movie none of us had ever seen. We concluded that we need more of these stay-put-and-recharge kind of days.
