Munich, one of Germany’s four largest cities (along with Berlin, Frankfurt, and Hamburg). today we all took a four-hour train from Kassel to Munich at which we stayed at my parents’ longtime friends’ house. Then we picked up their kids from school and had ice cream and thats pretty much all we did.

Day 6 – Last Day in Korbach
Most of the day was spent recovering from yesterday’s party. Inspired by the World Cup, Leo and I played soccer early in the morning. I tried a Maradonna right off and immediately regretted it. Leo of course did not since it must’ve been one of the most hilarious things he’s ever seen. We spent theContinueContinue reading “Day 6 – Last Day in Korbach”
Day 5 – Family reunion (Oma Hedwig’s side)
It’s not often that my mom gets to have all her kids together in one place. Maybe every two years or so. Adding more members of her family to that mix is even rarer – probably something like every 5 years – and then it’s still only part of her family. So when it workedContinueContinue reading “Day 5 – Family reunion (Oma Hedwig’s side)”
Day 4 – Soccer Playing in Germany
So first what i did today was wake up at a unusual time because I was used to 6 hours behind so I woke up at 12:00 and said to my mom, “Do want to go play soccer?” She obviously said yes. So we played soccer until this guy named Tai came in and thatContinueContinue reading “Day 4 – Soccer Playing in Germany”
Day 3 – interesting things…
“Interesting” things happened today, nothing more, nothing less. To start, I woke up at 12:00 AM (since I was used to a different time zone) and read till three AM and then went back to bed, then i woke to my mom telling me to wake up, and finally i was fully awake atContinueContinue reading “Day 3 – interesting things…”
Day 2 – Arrival in Germany
Now officially on vacation after our passport debacle! 6.5 hour overnight flight on Lufthansa was just long enough for dinner and breakfast (3 hours apart), which preempted any chance of real sleep. We arrived groggily at uncle Niko’s in Frankfurt just in time to catch up with him and 3+y/o cousin before they went toContinueContinue reading “Day 2 – Arrival in Germany”
Day 1 – aka Ground Zero
Sometimes the best laid plans go horribly awry. I’m not saying that this travel day was the worst I’ve had (that honor probably still goes to that one time, long ago when I saw my plane take off as I was arriving at the airport), but as Leo accurately observed when Bill asked him whatContinueContinue reading “Day 1 – aka Ground Zero”
