Day 5 – Family reunion (Oma Hedwig’s side)

It’s not often that my mom gets to have all her kids together in one place. Maybe every two years or so.  Adding more members of her family to that mix is even rarer – probably something like every 5 years – and then it’s still only part of her family. So when it worked out for her to have both of her living siblings and some of her nephews and all of her kids and grandkids come to Korbach, well, it was a grand celebration!  We spent most of Saturday talking, eating, drinking, catching up, laughing, watching some World Cup soccer, going for a walk and eating some more. On Sunday we were slightly hung over, but in wonderful spirits, ready to travel to all of our different destinations, but also excited to see each other again in the future (and hopefully sooner than last time…)
